As per the scriptures, the list of essentials of Durga Puja are:

Kalparambho: The ritual performed before the commencement of the Puja and Mahasna

1. Edibles:

a. Panchashasha- Five types of grains- Rice, Whole green gram (Moong), Sesame (til), Any variety of whole black leguminous seed (Mashkalai), Millet (job)
b. Panchagobbo- Five items obtained from the cow - Milk, Clarified butter (ghee), Curd, Cow Dung and Gomutra
c. Honey

g. One small Noibiddo
h. Three big Noibiddos
i. Earthen bowl of atop rice

3. Puja Items

a. Vermillion (Sindoor)
b. Powders of five different colours (panchabarner guri )- turmeric, rice, Kusum flowers or red aabir, Rice Chaff or burnt coconut fibre for dark colour, Bel Patra or powdered wood apple leaves
c. Leaves of five trees (panchapallab)- Mango, Pakur (a species of fig), Banyan, Betal and Fig(Joggodumur)
d. Five types of gems (pancha ratna)- Gold, Diamond, Sapphire, Ruby and Pearl
e. Bark of five trees (panchakoshay)- Jaam, Shimul, Berela, Kool, Bokul powdered in equal portions and mixed with water
f. Green coconut with stalk
g. Three aashonanguriuk- Finger ring made of Kusha


4. Cloth Items

a. Gamcha or a piece of cloth to cover the pot
b. A dhoti for Vishnu
c. A sari each for bodhon and Chandi.
